When Apple Watch launches in 2018, Samsung will take the place of the Apple Watch

Apple Watch is coming to Apple’s retail stores, but Samsung is expected to take over as the official watchmaker when the device launches in the first quarter of 2018.

The news comes from a new report by Chinese media outlet the China Daily, which claims that Samsung is preparing to launch its own watch in 2018.

Samsung is reportedly planning to introduce its own Samsung Gear watch to the public by the end of the year, but it is not known if that will be the Apple Watches official debut.

The report also claimed that Samsung will begin shipping its Gear smartwatch by the third quarter of next year, with the Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo models expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2020.

Samsung is also rumored to be developing a new version of its Galaxy Gear smartwatches, with a similar design to the Gear 2.

The new watch is expected debut in the third or fourth quarter of 2021.
